Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham claims the racist abuse he received following the Uefa Super Cup final reduced to tears his mother.
Abraham missed the crucial penalty in the shootout a month to offer victory and was subjected to abuse on social media.
“I remember talking to my mum, she was psychological, she was in tears,” 21-year-old Abraham told CNN.
A Chelsea spokesman said the club had been”disgusted” with the”abhorrent” articles.
In August, Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian maintained out Abraham’s spot-kick after it had finished to procure a 5-4 shootout victory.
Abraham, that has since scored four times in Chelsea’s past two matches, included:”It’s obviously not pleasant, seeing your son becoming abused. My mom was just thinking,’He ?’
“For me personally, I am a strong character, it doesn’t affect me as much, but it could affect people who do not possess my personality.
“I had been sat in the changing room right after the game and went on my mobile cell phone. I was not going to shy away from the circumstance, although I did have any messages that are encouraging. The other side is not nice to hear.
“I went through a great deal of emotion after the penalty neglect. I had experience of taking penalties last season. Penalties are missed by everyone. To miss the penalty… I had been destroyed and I had a good deal of abuse ”
Abraham, who has made two international appearances for England, praised the service he has received from his supervisor, his team-mates and his team.
“Frank Lampard always had his arm around my shoulder lifting up me, the boys also, it was like I never overlooked the way that they supported me and raised me that is precisely what I needed,” added Abraham.
